Rain Affects Total Dissolved Solids

Rain Affects Total Dissolved Solids

Here in Southern California, we have had an unprecedented amount of rainfall these first couple months of the new year. In many parts throughout Southern California, it was record breaking rainfall. Due to the amount of rain that we have been experiencing, our tap water becomes affected as well. The reason that this happens is because of the rain going in through the ground and into our water supply. The amount of rain water affects the TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) because it is adding more minerals to the local water supply. This can affect the TDS because it is essentially measuring the amount of minerals in the water when testing in the first place. This number can increase to up to 100 ppm (parts per million). With all that being said, it doesn’t have any issues with how the water is being filtered (assuming you own a One Water Systems filtration system). TDS is nothing to be scared of; minerals are an important part of ones health.
