San Diego Schools Detect Lead in Water

A recent report from the California State Water Resources Control Board indicated that there are 11 schools within San Diego county that had an unsafe amount of lead found in the drinking water. The report came from testing the waters of all schools last year between February and December of 2017.

The 11 schools are listed below as follows:

  • Alice Birney Elementary in San Diego
  • Boulder Oak Elementary School in Alpine
  • Cesar Chavez Middle School in Oceanside
  • Emerson/Bandini Elementary in San Diego.
  • Grapevine Elementary School in Vista
  • Imperial Beach Charter School West Campus in Imperial Beach
  • Ira Harbison elementary school in National City
  • La Petit Ecole in San Diego
  • Reidy Creek Elementary School in Escondido
  • San Diego Cooperative Charter School 2 in San Diego
  • Twin Oaks High School in San Marcos

Out of all 11 schools, all 11 have already taken the correct steps in fixing this issue. All schools have reported they will have the right steps in place before the Fall semester of 2018 begins. Some of them have started replacing their contaminated drinking fountains and sinks while other schools are installing water filtration systems.
